Lisa Monet Children’s Music

What if I told you I’ve had the same song in my head for four days? No? Not cool? Ok, what if I told you that this song, the one I’ve been singing incessantly nearly all week long, consistently gets my two boys to dance, smile, and sing every single morning? Better? Now what if I said that having this song in my head doesn't make me want to rip out my own hair out, but instead makes me smile right along with them?

Lisa Monet’sCircle Time” [$14] has become a permanent fixture in my house these past few weeks. Each morning when we start our day, my older son requests that the “Jumping Song” (a.k.a. “Jump Into The Circle,” a.k.a. “That Which I have Been Singing For a Fortnight) be put on as we eat breakfast. Much bopping and bouncing of heads ensues, and once everyone is done eating, we have a full-out dance party in our living room. With acoustic and a cappella renditions of many traditional childhood favorites, as well as some more obscure songs, Lisa Monet embodies children’s music at its finest – gentle voice, just the right amount of playfulness, and completely devoid of all things obnoxious. Most importantly, it makes my kids happy, and if they're happy, I'm happy.

Also check out the award winning, bilingual “Tingaleyo” collection [$15] for a great introduction to and reinforcement of Spanish, with excellent versions of “Día/Day-O” and “Hasta Luego Winnebago/See Ya Later Alligator.”
